On April 21, local non-for-profit RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) will partner with Web Tech Services in East Peoria to offer a free cyber security seminar to Peoria area senior citizens.

The seminar, led by Web Tech owner Tammy Finch with the help of youth volunteers, will cover everything from current email and text message scams to virus protection as well as basic preventative measures against identity theft.

The “Connect and Protect” seminar will be offered on Thursday April 21 at 1:30 PM at the Peoria Public Library’s RiverWest branch, located at 312 S. Merriman. Refreshments will be provided.

The goal of the seminar is to equip Peoria senior citizens with the knowledge and resources to protect themselves from technological exploitation. R.S.V.P. and Web Tech Services hope to increase awareness of technology safety among area senior citizens and facilitate intergenerational dialogue about cyber security.
